Roll-a-Tower

This is another one of our math stations this week. This is the higher version (#'s 4-9) there is also a lower version (#'s 1-6). The students roll the die and then build a tower of that many cubes. If they roll that number again then they move the tower up one row. The first number to reach the top wins!

Counting storyboards

We use these storyboard scenes from Kathy Richardson's "Assessing Math Concepts". The students use Unifix cubes to act out a scene on their boards.

I Have, Who Has? Number Identification

This is the higher level version with numbers in the teens and twenties. You deal all of the cards out, it's ok if everyone doesn't have the same amount of cards. Make sure the star side is facing up to begin the game. The person with the #10 card goes first by saying "I have 10, (then that person would flip the card over) and say "who has____?" You keep going until the last card is flipped and it is blank on the backside. No more stars should be showing.

This is the lower level version. You start with #7 on this version. Head over to my TpT store to grab yourself a copy! (Includes all 3 levels of the game)

K in our "ABC Folders"

These are our "ABC Folders" we send home the manilla envelope every Friday with the new letters that we will be learning next week circled. The students look through a magazine to find 3 pictures that start with K then glue them onto one of the squares that I put in their manilla envelope. During work board they get their pictures out of their ABC envelopes and glue them into their folder. Once we finish the alphabet then we go back and write the words of the pictures down. I can't take credit for this cute idea, my mentor Mrs. Gigliotti had these folders and I thought they were a great idea! You can download the whole ABC folder over on my TpT store for just $4 for the whole 32 page workbook!

The letter K book

Here is the letter K book that we did at a work board center today. We do one of these books for every letter. This weeks letter is k so we did the k book today. I have the children read the book to themselves (after we read it together as a class) then color 3 pages. We are working on using different colors when we color so the king wouldn't be all red! The books are from enchantedlearning.com

I use these letter books with my students who are already reading. I have them read the book, highlight 10 K's and then color 2 pages. These books are from "Alphatales" you can get them from Scholastic.
